Alternative Transportation
My journey into alternative transportation began at age 15 when I got my first moped. From 2005 to 2015, I lived entirely car-free—biking around Manhattan during law school and later riding my moped across Los Angeles. In 2015, I purchased my first car in a decade for work, but by 2016, I sold it and moved to Hawaii, where I resumed my car-free lifestyle. While in Hawaii, I joined the Hawaii Bicycling League, the statewide nonprofit advocating for bicycle use and safety. This role opened the door to working with LimeBike, the dockless bike-share company that evolved into Lime, the e-scooter powerhouse. I successfully maintained a car-free lifestyle from 2016 until 2024, when a new job once again required owning a car.
Throughout my career, I’ve passionately worked to advance alternative transportation:
Legislation
Advocated for policy changes in Hawaii, California, and Georgia.
Community Engagement
Organized events promoting alternative transportation in Hawaii, California, and Georgia.
Fundraising
Secured funding for transportation initiatives in Hawaii.
Education
Taught safety courses on alternative transportation in Hawaii and Georgia.
